Just about the whole country was on Lunar Eclipse alert last night. For the few who don't know what causes the eclipse it is a simple answer. A straight alignment of Sun, Earth and Moon. The Moon enters the Earth's shadow and goes from totally illuminated to fully shaded. Some light still hits it and this comes from the sun passing through the Earth's thin atmosphere. This scatters the light and makes the Moon appear reddish.
I managed a significant number of shots and above you can see one of the best of full eclipse. I submitted it to BBC website but alas they did not print it even though I think it is better than many of the submissions.
